Netflix Houses are opening so fans of such features as “Stranger Things” and “Knives Out” can enjoy sets, food, merchandise and music from the shows that normally run on the streaming service.
The first two locations, Netflix announced Tuesday, will open in 2025 in the Dallas Galleria and the mall in King of Prussia near Philadelphia. The Netflix Houses will occupy former department store locations, each over 100,000 square feet.
“At Netflix House, you can enjoy regularly updated immersive experiences, indulge in retail therapy and get a taste — literally — of your favorite Netflix series and films through unique food and drink offerings,” Netflix Chief Marketing Officer Marian Lee said in the announcement.
Netflix has operated more than 50 other immersive experiences across 25 cities worldwide, Ms. Lee said, and the Netflix House concept is the evolution of those events.
The management company that operates the Dallas Galleria says experiences like the Netflix House are here to stay.
“You read about millennials and Gen Z and how much they spend on experiences rather than clothing or whatever — so the experience economy, I think, is here to stay. … Netflix is like [what] Kleenex has become for tissue; Netflix is for streaming, content providers. So we’re really excited to be associated with that brand,” Trademark Property Co. CEO Terry Montesi told The Dallas Morning News.
